How is food waste management assessed in tourist areas of the Black Sea?
The European project team of FoodWISE completed the Capacity Assessment Report through bibliographic research, questionnaires, and focus groups conducted in 20 municipalities in four countries: Greece, Bulgaria, Georgia, and Turkey.
As one of the project partners, incommon collaborated with the municipalities of Kavala, Nea Propontida, Polygyros, Sithonia, and Aristotle to draw conclusions and, based on these, implement solutions and good practices through relevant tools, good practices, information campaigns, etc.
The New Report [Capacity Assessment International Report]:
- assesses food waste management practices.
- identifies gaps.
- proposes practical solutions to strengthen capacities at national and local level.
The key findings of the report, which is available in English here, highlight significant challenges, including inadequate infrastructure and legislative support, as well as limited public information and awareness, which collectively hinder the effective management of food waste, a major source of environmental pollution.
