Project Completion Conference and Establishment of the FoodWISE Network
On November 18, 2025, in Varna, at the BRICK port, the BIONET Association is organizing the final conference of the FoodWISE project – Cooperation to reduce food waste and promote responsible consumption in the Black Sea Basin (BSB00221), funded by the Interreg NEXT Program for the Black Sea Basin 2014–2020.
The event will mark the end of a successful collaboration between organizations from Greece, Georgia, Turkey, and Bulgaria and will launch the Black Sea FoodWISE Network—a voluntary platform for cooperation between municipalities, public bodies, tourism organizations, and other stakeholders, with the aim of
- reducing food waste and managing resources more efficiently
- sharing good practices among local authorities
- developing policies based on sustainability, the circular economy, and social responsibility
The conference will provide an opportunity to discuss current challenges in food waste management and to present the tools developed within the project that can support municipalities in implementing the polluter pays principle.
Participants will have the opportunity to sign the Memorandum of Understanding for the establishment of the Black Sea FoodWISE Network, confirming their commitment to a more sustainable, responsible, and resource-efficient future for the region.
